The Welfare card has been issued to you to provide care and assistance during your delay as agreed between you and your card provider. The card is a Mastercard and is available in three currencies currently, GBP, USD and Euro. The card is valid only for a short period of time and expire once the disruption is finalised by the card provider.
You can use your card at any food & beverage, pharmacy or newsagent stores at the airport that displays the Mastercard Acceptance Mark.
You may have been issued either a Physical Card, or a Virtual card:
- Physical cards are ready for use immediately and are Magstripe in use (not contactless or chip). Please use this by swiping the card alongside the card terminals where available – check with the shop assistant for help if required.
- Virtual cards are links sent by the card provider, which can be added to your Google Pay or Apple Pay mobile wallet. This may require the downloading of the Swiipr app, however can sometimes be added directly from the mobile’s browser.
